TEDDY Review

Teddy is a 2020 fantasy and comedy movie by Shakti Soundar Rajan, starring Arya and Sayyeshaa in lead roles. Shakti Soundar Rajan is famous for his innovative Tamil cinemas. With Miruthan and Tik Tik Tik, he is the director of 1st zombie and space movie in India. This time with Teddy, he is back again with a different concept in Tamil Cinema.

When a girl, unfortunately, being a victim of an international crime. She slides into a coma, which results in her soul entering into a teddy toy. Teddy got to see Shiva (Arya), who helped another girl from a group of abusive individuals. She explains everything and seeks help from Shiva to find her physical body. Shiva is well-disciplined and introvert. He has the ability to grasp anything in a short time-span by birth and possess a great memory. The rest of the movie is about the journey of Shiva and teddy to find her.

Teddy is an engaging fantasy movie with a lot of scientific facts in it. Arya did fabulous work as Shiva. Being an introvert and organised character, Arya was able to pull off the characteristics of Shiva nicely. Sayyeshaa did her part well. Sathish, Karunakaran and others were good. The man behind the Teddy costume needs some applauds.

Compared to the previous movies of Shakti Soundar Rajan, Teddy has fewer surprises. His effort to bring innovative stories deserves appreciation. Hopefully, he will try to avoid the usual elements like songs, romantic scenes etc… in his future movies unless the movie deserves it. The 1st half of Teddy had some impressive scenes while the story develops and reveals some facts. At some point, the 2nd half lost its momentum and turned into a normal story. The abroad scenes were good. Felt the climax and tail ending could have been much better. The movie had an okay music and background score. The Cinematography was a major plus. 

On the whole, Teddy is a good entertainer, especially for the kids. a good effort from the team.
