Mookuthi Amman is a 2020 comedy, fantasy movie, written by RJ Balaji and Directed by RJ Balaji and N. J. Saravanan. The movie has Nayanthara and RJ Balaji in lead roles.
The movie starts with showing Ramasamy (RJ Balaji), who take care of a big family of his Mom, three sisters and grandfather. His father ran away during his childhood, and the whole family is working their own to pull off their lives. Ramasamy is a journalist on a local news channel. In the beginning, we can see he is reporting against a group who is trying to acquire more than 10,000 acres of land of his village. Ramasamy’s Mother (Urvashi) is typical women, who most of the time follow spiritual and religious activities, and always believe, one day their lives will get better. She hopes that her husband will return to them, and her son and daughters will get a good alliance and job. All the things changed when Ramasamy and his family visited their root temple of the Goddess Mookuthi Amman. When the goddess Mookuthi Amman (Nayanthara) appears in front of Ramasamy to change particular things, the movie became more entertaining and fantasy.
Nayanthara, The Lady Superstar was stunning as the Goddess Mookuthi Amman. Her Screen Presence is something that is unmatched. Her movies have got a minimum “guarantee”. Her characters always had messages for society. Even though the movie is all about her character, wished she had even more screen presence in the film. RJ Balaji dominates with his character Ramasamy. He performed with keeping that cool. His comedy scenes and combination scenes with Nayanthara was the highlight of Mookuthi Amman. Urvashi again proves that she is the best. She already gave us three continuous marvellous characters recently, a real performer. That Baasha-Paaru scene was lit. The Baba, sisters of Ramasamy and other cast did their part very well.
When Girishh G did the songs amazingly, felt the background scores could have done better. Cinematography by Dinesh Krishnan made the movie much colourful.
N.J. Saravanan and RJ Balaji’s film making was good. RJ Balaji, after LKG, came up with another socially relevant movie. The theme and message of the movie were relevant. Perfectly pointed out the brokers between the god and people.
