Maara is a 2021 Tamil Romantic Entertainer written by Bipin and Dhilip Kumar, directed by Dhilip Kumar, starring Madhavan, Shraddha Srinath, Sshivada and Moulee in lead roles. Being an official remake of Malayalam blockbuster Charlie, all were looking towards Maara for that feeling we got from Charlie. Maara is not a scene by scene adaptation. The plot of Maara was different, which makes Maara a different viewing experience, even if you have watched Charlie.

Madhavan as Maara is a wanderer who surprises everyone with his positiveness, helping mentality and a friendly character. Maara doesn’t have a fixed place to stay. He always travels, and nobody knows when he will come and go. Maara is also an artist who loves paintings and creating sculptures. His wall arts even helped the city from abolishing and attracted more tourists. He used to draw the characters whom he meets regularly. Maara is showing as an identity of happiness and an example of how we need to live. Madhavan’s portrayal of this character was stunning. He looked more innocent, calm and on the other side, mass. Shraddha Srinath as Paaru is a person with almost similar characteristics of Maara. When she saw paintings of a fairy tale which only known by her, she realizes another person called Maara also knows the same fairy tale. While staying in his room, she finds many creations of Maara and some exciting life stories through his drawing book. Rest of the movie shows her quest to find Maara and to know more about him. Moulee as Vellayya is a valuable character in the film. His portrayal as a man who still waits for his love even after 50 years was impressive. Maara’s bond with Vellayya is like a father-son relation. Sshivada as Dr Kani performed very well. All the casts like Abhirami, Alexander and others contributed well.

What makes Maara a different remake is the connection of incidents in the movie and a fairy tale of a fish and a soldier. Every scene in Maara is connecting to that fairy tale, and in the ending, the story of fish and soldier unfolds many hidden answers. The storytelling was almost different in Maara.

Ghibran did the Songs and BGM very well. The songs in Maara picturized marvellously. Dinesh Krishnan‘s and Karthik Muthukumar‘s Cinematography was a significant plus, and all the other technical departments like art and editing worked well. The landscapes of hill areas in Kerala and the Cochin region increased the beauty of each scene.

Maara is so fresh and filled with a lot of positivity. Watch Maara for its different film making and cute performances of Madhavan and Shraddha. This movie offers you a lot of happiness and energy.

Review : A “REFRESHING” Fairy Tale!
A fabulous fairy tale of Maara and Paaru with a lot of positivity. Madhavan and Shraddha were cute and innocent throughout the movie. A remake which is almost different from the original in terms of plot and storytelling. A well-made movie by Dhilip Kumar.
