Kaithi Review - First Day Reports

Kaithi is a Tamil Action, Thriller film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, starring Karthi, Narain in lead roles. Lokesh Kanagaraj is one among the directors in Tamil cinema, who has a different style of story telling. His 1st movie Maanagaram is a pure creation without any compromises, so as his 2nd movie Kaithi. Kaithi is a pure example that, a movie without any songs, romance can engage viewers. Kaithi is full of action scenes and a seat edged thriller. The movie’s plot happens in a single night. There’s a situation where the entire police officer’s life under risk due to some dangerous drug dealing gang.  Karthi acts as a Kaithi (Accused) named Dilli, who is released from prison. He waited so long in prison for this day to see his daughter, whom he had never seen before. Due to some circumstances, Karthi joins with a cop and a young man to reach a destination but the obstacles and challenges on the way make their journey difficult and risk.

We need to appreciate Karthi for choosing this script, this will be one of his career best. After Theeran, he is back with another good movie which has lot of scenes for him to perform. The daughter sentiment, driving lorry and the mannerisms of him is so nice. The climax action scene with that machine is another level scene. Narain got a good come back movie in Tamil cinema, he did a good job as a cop. George Maryan as the police constable is another highlight of the movie. His performance in Kaithi will be always remembered. That character had equal importance as the main characters in the movie and also well handled by George Maryan. All the other casts did a neat job.

This movie is a kind of seat edged thriller which offers you some good cinema experience. All the stunts perfectly choreographed. The movie is well edited, engaging with no such unwanted scenes. Talking about what doesn’t worked in the movie is; In some scenes, the lighting was too dark and the visual was not that clear. The Background score was just okayish one. Rest all departments did their part well. 

Lokesh Kanagaraj, the director is the star of Kaithi, his vision and great film making produced a quality, shining action thriller for the Tamil cinema. A film maker who is talented, visionary and is a future of Tamil cinema. Waiting for return of Dilli in Kaithi 2.
