Kaappaan is a tamil Action Thriller directed by KV. Anand, Starring Suriya, Mohanlal, Arya in lead roles. The movie address the topics like life of Army man, SPG officers, National security and Struggle of Farmers. Mohanlal with his unmatchable talent, handled the role of PM with an ease. It is doubtful that, whether this role needs him. He couldn’t do more in this movie, It’s more like Mohanlal is an extended cameo in Kaappaan. This is Suriya’s movie. Suriya shines as an SPG Officer and a farmer. He also appear in few other get up changes in between, and one of those were truly surprising.
The movie gives us many good messages and touch all the relevant social topics. Suriya after NGK, again taught us the importance of farming and organic farming. The SPG portions were the best part and shows us how tough is their job. Hats off for highlighting the struggles faced by the farmers.
Arya did his part well, A jolly, partially responsible man. He was funny throughout the movie. Sayyesha also did her part well, the romantic and the funny combination scenes with Suriya worked out well.
The director KV. Anand tried to touch in many social causes in this movie but not made a strong impact due to many rushed scenes followed by. The racy screenplay saw in 1st half missed in 2nd half.
The main drawback of Kaappaan is the Songs and BGMs. The songs are intolerable and the BGM is filled in the entire movie scenes. Most of the BGMs were not matching to the situation. Harris Jayaraj needs to change his style and needs to research more on placing it in movies. Missing that old Harris Jayaraj.
Suriya and KV. Anand almost tried to recreate their Ayan Magic, but the weak writing and screenplay drag that back. Also the casting was inappropriate. Mohanlal could have been replaced (Can’t replace his legendary acting).
The movie on farmers and corporate politics is discussed and seen in many movies, but the SPG subject is a new topic. The movie is an entertainer which can be enjoyed in theatres. Kaappaan is a good come back movie for Suriya.

FIRST DAY REPORTS RATING
3/5
Review : A pure entertainer that address lot of social issues and talk about the two pillars of our nation – Army and Farmers.
Suriya’s great come back film. Mohanlal’s presence helped the movie a lot. Apart from the Songs, BGMs and writing, the movie has all the elements that will surely entertain you.
“SPG are salaried to jump in front of bullets to save the official and the Farmers are the only ones who suicide for not able to repay their debt” ♥
