Ganagandharvan is a Malayalam family entertainer, directed by Ramesh Pisharody, starring Mammootty, Vanditha Manoharan, Manoj K Jayan, Suresh Krishna in major roles. Ramesh Pisharody is back with another family drama after his first movie Panchavarnathatha. This time, with a star like Mammootty, he have more responsibility. As majority expect a jolly or funny movie from him. He comes with a classic family movie.
Ganagandharvan has lot of moments to laugh. Even in a serious plot, the movie makes you entertain with some comedies. Mammootty is famous for his classy presentation and heart touching acting in emotional scenes. Ganagandharvan is made for him. As usual, he lives as that character Ullas. He excellently portrayed the life of that character, as a family man, an ordinary man with lot of day to day difficulties. Having Mammootty is the major highlight of Ganagandharvan.
There were many new faces in female characters. Vanditha Manoharan as Mini and Athulya as Sandra did their part well. The one liners of Harish Kanaran and the presence of Manoj K Jayan, Suresh Krishna, Mukesh, Maniyampilla Raju made the movie more fun.
The technical team of the movie did a good job. Music by Deepak Dev is another major highlight of Ganagandharvan. The songs in the movie and used for the stage programs were produced well. The cinematography of the movie has also played a major role in beautifying the visual experience. The editing and the screenplay could have been improved. the movie felt too slow during the first half. The second half and the climax was a big plus for Ganagandharvan.
The director Pisharody tried to convey a good message through the movie. No rules should be misused by any gender for their personal revenge against someone. there are lot of nostalgic moments too. This is definitely a watchable movie that is mainly targeted on the family audience.
