Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25 is a Malayalam feel good comedy entertainer written and directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Pothuval, starring Suraj Venjarammoodu, Soubin Shahir in lead roles. The movie looks into the life of a dad and son. Subramanian (Soubin) is the only son of Bhaskara Poduval (Suraj), who is an engineering graduate, unemployed, staying back at his home to look after his father. Bhaskara Poduval is an angry old aged man, who doesn’t want his son to go far for his work. At a stage, his son strongly wanted to go to Russia for a good job. Due to the arrogant behavior of Bhaskaran, no servants stay more than a week. For this, Subramanian bring a robot to help his father. Rest of the movie deals with how Bhaskaran become friend with the robot and the changes that a robot brings in their life.
This movie have some good performers of the industry. Let it be Suraj or Soubin, both gave a best performance. Suraj is the major highlight of Android Kunjappan. He did exceptionally well as an old aged father. He is well balanced between the emotional scenes and comedy scenes. Even though Soubin had less screen space compared to Suraj, he as usual did a good job in this movie. The rest of the casts like the neighbors, Kendy, Saiju Kurup were nice and handled their characters in at most perfection.
The technical departments was okay. The cinematography, Music, Editing, all did their part well. The movie had lot of scenes, where you can laugh out loud. all the scenes with the robot was the highlight scenes in the film.
The movie had a good message throughout and shows us the value of a family relation or the responsibilities in between a father and son. Towards the end, the movie somewhat lost it’s flow and ended as a rushed ending. The writer or director Ratheesh Balakrishnan Pothuval succeeded in conveying the right message to the audience through an engaging screenplay , new story and an interesting movie.
Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25 is a good watch for everyone. Go watch the movie expecting a feel good comedy movie rather than a sci-fi movie.
